Christmas is often called the most wonderful time of the year. And in many ways, that may be the case! Christmas provides us the opportunity to bring loved ones near and enjoy some seasonal cheer. There are flashes of joy in this season, to be sure.
 
And yet, there is much loneliness, pain, sickness, relational fractures, financial burdens, hunger, need, and violence happening in our neighbourhoods, cities, and world. Whether we consider it on a personal level, or a global scale, darkness and brokenness abound, to be sure.
 
The question this event will ask is whether or not the story of Christmas as celebrated by billions of people worldwide - the birth of Jesus of Nazareth over 2,000 years ago - actually is good news of great joy. Can this story deliver on what it promises? Can a baby heal a broken world?
