Childcare Centre Administration Assistant

Position summary:

This individual will work with the SouthRidge Childcare Centre Director, and will be responsible for assisting the Director in managing and supporting daily general operations of the Childcare Centre, as well as communication with parents, other staff, outside inquiries, etc.

Position accountability:

This individual will report to and be accountable to the Childcare Centre Director.

Key position responsibilities:

  1. General Daily Operations
  • provide administrative and communication support to Director, teachers and parents, including intake and exit of students
  • assist in developing and maintaining various systems to support operational procedures
  • support various policies and ongoing daily operations as needed
  1. Communication
  • develop and/or provide relevant, ongoing proactive communication for and with parents, staff and external inquiries, issues or events
  • follow up on reactive communication as relevant and needed
  • liaise with parents through various social media tools as may be needed
  • create and/or maintain and distribute newsletters, brochures, handbooks, etc.
  1. Special Projects
  • provide administrative support & leadership as needed with various special events, projects, functions, etc. These may be outside ‘regular’ office hours from time to time, with relevant advance notice to be given.

This individual will:

  • be proficient with relevant computer skills
  • have strong interpersonal, communication and administrative skills and experience
  1. Skills

This individual will:

  • Possess good interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Possess good PC desktop skills (Microsoft Publisher, Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.).
  • Possess general administrative skills, including basic grammar, writing, proof reading and editing.
  • Possesses an operational knowledge of current office machines.
  • Possess the knowledge and experience to use current Accounting tools and resources such as Sage 50 Premium Accounting.
  • Preferably have a recognized, Professional Accounting designation.

Terms of employment:

This is a part-time position; hours will start at 12 hours weekly, and may eventually increase up to 20 hours.

Weekly scheduled days may vary, but will include Monday mornings, with some possible flexibility for the remaining days.

The individual will be remunerated according to terms worked out by the Personnel Committee and mutually agreed upon by the individual.

The individual will need to have a criminal record check. If a prior criminal record is revealed, it may result in reconsideration of the application.

The individual will agree to and sign the SouthRidge Fellowship Employee Policy Manual, and other relevant policies.

The position will be subject to review and evaluation at the end of three (3) months, after which time it will be reviewed annually.

This relationship may be terminated by the individual with thirty (30) days written notice.

SouthRidge may dismiss the individual with thirty (30) days’ notice for failing to meet the character qualifications or failing to fulfill the job description.
