A message from the 2015 Colombia Team

Map of World featuring Columbia

The Colombia Team here, we just wanted to update you with our preparations and a couple of needs that we still have.

A big thank you to everyone who has already given towards supporting the individual team members and this project. To date, we have received $2,189 towards our $5,000 goal. Included in this amount is $111 from children in our SRKids ministry, the kids have given this amount in just 3 weeks (in an average month, SRKids offering is normally $20-30). They have set a goal of $200. We have heard several stories of kids going into their own piggy banks to get money to give. Way to go SRKids!

It is hard to believe that we will be leaving in just 14 days (2 weeks!), we have a lot of work to do during these 2 weeks, but we also need some help because we can’t do this on our own.

So here is our ask of you:

1. Tents

We are still looking for a few more tents to take down with us. If you have a good used 6 person or larger tent (emphasis on good) that you would like to donate to the team, could you please drop it off at the office or with one of the team members by March 8th. Or if you would like to purchase a tent and donate it to the team that would be great too.

2. Hockey bags/duffle bags

the team is needing to borrow some bags to take down (which we will return back to you!). We are being given a ‘boat load’ of Langley soccer uniforms to take down, but we need something to take them in. These bags need to be ‘flexible’ in nature because we need to be able to stuff them inside of other bags to bring them back home with us. If you have one or two you could lend us, please drop them off at the office or with a team member before March 8th.

3. “Canadiana”

if you have some Canada pins, or pencils or flags that are just taking up space in your junk drawer, we would love to help you clear out that drawer for you. Colombians love ‘Canada’ stuff. If you would like to donate it to the team we will take it! Also if some of you have time to go to our MP’s office and ask for some Canada pins (they tend to only give out 20-30 at a time) we would appreciate it too. Please give it to the office or one of the team members by March 8th.

4. Finances

If you are intending to financially support some of the team members or if God has laid it on your heart to contribute to the fundraising goal of $5000, could we ask that you consider giving your gift by this Sunday March 1st. This would really help us in our planning during the final week before we depart. Thank you in advance

5. Prayer

we would really love you to be part of our prayer team. We will be sending update emails back to the office with how we are doing and what we need prayer for, if you would like to be part of the ‘Colombian prayer team’ and receive these updates, please respond to this email with “Sign me up please”

Thank you everyone, we are looking forward to what God is going to do in us and through us.
