Perhaps you’ve heard of New Hope Community Services. They are an organization that grew out of Faith Baptist Church in Vancouver, and they’ve been helping with refugee transition housing as well as providing services to new immigrants and refugees for years. They recently acquired a 13 unit complex in Surrey and will be open to receive refugee and immigrant families by January 2016. They have put together a video that shows “How” to sponsor a refugee family to Canada.
The Executive Director for New Hope is Jamey McDonald. He has indicated that they’re currently seeking interested folks to serve as guides for immigrants/refugees. For more information we’d encourage you to contact him.
SouthRidge recently hosted Pastor Gamal from Damascus Baptist Church, for a morning information session. He’s in Canada raising awareness of what’s going on in Syria, and he shared about the many communities they are serving. We’ve included an attachment that shows their fundraising proposal to support Syrian families in their home country. This work is done through GAIN (Global Aid Network), which is the Humanitarian relief partner of Power to Change.
